Installation of VMware Site Recovery Manager 6.0
Pre-requisites for VMware Site Recovery Manager Installation
- New Database has to be created on MS SQL 2008/2012 R2.
- Create an SQL Service account with appropriate permissions
- Create an ODBC connection to the newly created database
- Download the SRM and SRA installable
- Install Java 7 or above in Windows VM.
Following screen shots illustrates Installation of Site Recovery Manager 6.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 VM.
Ø Click on the Installable and initiate the installation
Ø Click on Next
Ø Click on Next
Ø Accept the Agreement.
Ø Click on Next
;Ø Click on Next
Ø Leave the installation location to default until and unless customer asks you to install it on other Drive.
Ø Click on Next
Ø Give Platform Services Controller IP or FQDN (in our case as it is embedded in same VM give vCenter details).
Ø Username should be part of Administrators group (in our case, we use the default administrator user created at the time of installation).
Ø Click on Next
Ø Accept the certificate
Ø Select the vCenter IP or FQDN.
Ø Click on Next
Ø Give SRM VM IP Details in Local Site Name.
Ø Give an E-mail address.
Ø Select SRM IP address as Local Host and leave Listener Port to default.
Ø Click on Next.
Ø Select Default Site Recovery Manager Plug-in Identifier.
Ø Click on Next.
Ø Select Automatically generated a certificate option.
Ø Click on Next.
Ø Give the Organization and Organization Unit names as per the Customer name.
Ø Click on Next.
Ø Select use a custom database Name and select the ODBC connection made before installation starting the installation.
Ø Click on Next.
Ø Give the SQL Service account which has appropriate access on the database created for SRM installation.
Ø Leave the Connection count and Max Connection to default
Ø Click on Next.
Ø Select Use Local System account
Ø Click on Next.
Ø Click on Install.
Ø Installation of Site Recovery Manager is complete with this step.
Ø Click on Finish.
Now depending upon your setup you will need to install SRA such as EMC Recover Point, NetApp , IBM SVC , Hitachi and so on
